Sighnaghi
In this country of wine-lovers, everyone agrees that very best wines come from the fertile eastern part of Georgia, called by Dumas “the garden province of Kakheti.” Exactly here is located Sighnaghi – the city of love. Reminiscent of a charming little Italian village full of 18th-19th century architecture and colorful wooden balconies.
Sighnaghi’s city walls are 5 kilometers long and include 23 towers. If you have a head for heights you can even climb to the top of one of the towers for views of the vast Alazani Valley, with the Caucasus Mountains visible in the distance.
If you are interested why Sighnaghi is called the city of love, the museum of Sighnaghi will uncover the story. The ethnographic collection of the museum features 5000 artifacts.
