Welcome to Shanghai!

The dragon boat races are a long lasting tradition which has its roots in an ancient folk ritual of contending villagers, which has been held for over 2000 years throughout southern China.. But the history of dragon boats in competition reaches as far back as the same era as the original games of Olympia in ancient Greece.

Both dragon boat racing and the ancient Olympiad included aspects of religious observances and community celebrations along with competition.


Before the racing you will be trained by the professional Coach for one hour. It was also cool to hear the pounding on the drums and seeing all row in unison.

 

Dragon boat race

0830 Depart Hotel
0900 The warm-ups start, 6 teams and 10-man boats are ready.
0930 The final will begin. You can now sit down and just enjoy the fabulous dragon boat race. Snacks and drinks are provided during the race. 
1030 The final finished and celebration by Dragon and lion dance.
1230 drive to have a lunch

1300 Lunch time

1400 Drive to Water Town of Zhujiajiao
1430-1530 Visit the Zhujiajiao
1540-1630 Drive back to hotel
1830 Drive to and dinner at Yong Foo Elite
