Somak Safaris was founded almost 50 years ago by the Sofat family. During the years the company has grown: today a large team of specialists are working at Somak Safaris, but the company is still family-run. After gaining experience during all this time, we are experts in planning and organising groups and incentives to Tanzania. We have the best safari driver-guides and the latest safari vehicles. We have a separate office in Tanzania that operates under Somak Safaris. If you are looking for an extraodinary Africa-experience in Tanzania, with amazing safari-elements, we are the right partner for you.

If you love to watch the animals and you and your clients want a unique and unrivalled experience, Tanzania is the place. Of course there is the famous Serengeti where you can watch The Great Migration each year. It is spectucalar and moving to see the wildebeest and zebra cross the rivers, propelled by an instinct that is stronger than anything. Apart from the migratio, but Tanzania has so many more beautiful parks to offer. What to think of huge herds hippos, dozing in the water or of buffalo who wander in Katavi, one of the few places on earth that is of almost pristine wilderness, Mahale Mountains for Chimpanzees viewing or visit south Tanzania to go to Ruaha or Selous, one of the oldest and largest game reserves.
Tanzania and Zanzibar have magical beaches of the purest white sand and turquoise seas. Only 45 minutes away from the southern parks, you think you have landed in paradise. Picture yourself with a cocktail in one hand, a book waiting to be read and you gazing over the ocean, enjoying life to the fullest.
Arusha Coffee Lodge lies in the endless acres of Tanzania’s largest coffee plantation. See the farm’s original plantation homes, radiating the warmth and invitation of a bygone era.

Arrive at Lake Manyara National Park and proceed for a midday game drive in this petite park, famous for its tree-climbing lions.
Stretching for 50 km along the base of the rusty-gold 600-metre high Rift Valley escarpment, Lake Manyara is a scenic gem, with a setting extolled by Ernest Hemingway as “the loveliest I had seen in Africa”. The compact game-viewing circuit through Manyara offers a virtual microcosm of the Tanzanian safari experience.
Lodge – Regularly voted one of the best hotels in the world, this unique lodge clings to the rim of the magnificent Ngorongoro Crater and is built from local river stone and camouflaged with indigenous vines.

If the history of rock music is your passion, you can even check out the birthplace of the legendary Freddie Mercury!
You may also visit the Spice Plantations to discover the history of Zanzibar, based on the trade of cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon, pepper and many other spices.
Just to say, all four of us had a fantastic stay with memories we will treasure! The service and attention to detail from Somak was superb. Thank you.
You employ some lovely staff and it is for this reason I also wanted to get back to you. It was thanks to Maravitt that we had such a fantastic safari experience. He was so knowledgeable not only about the animals but also the various birdlife we saw. He had amazing eyesight and could spot animal activity from such distances, which we couldn’t even spot with binoculars at times, and he did this whilst he was driving!
In our six day adventure, all four of us became very fond of Maravitt. He showed us great professionalism and a lovely manner and expression with words; he had empathy (I had a nasty cough and he bought me medicine) and a great sense of humour.
Please forward his details to us so I can thank him again.
Kind Regards
Charmaine
